Project based learning for youth participants to use business skills to benefit their communityIn a series of up to 10 workshops, youth will develop a social enterprise project to be implemented in their community.  Outcomes for youth include:

  * Increased 21st Century skills (collaboration & teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, public speaking)
  * Completion of a 10 minute pitch presentation and written business plan
  * Eligibility to apply for an interest free Kiva Zip loan

Intro to Social Enterprise:

60-minute workshops introduce youth to social enterprise and inspire them to create solutions to the problems they identify in their communities.  Outcomes for youth include:

  * Increased awareness and understanding of community-led social enterprises
  * Increased understanding of the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit)
  * Increased interest in pursuing a pathway in social entrepreneurship and innovation

 

 

 


The Youth HUB Fellowship:

a comprehensive, yearlong social entrepreneurship training program for emerging young leaders (ages 16-24) that want to create positive change in low-income communities. The Fellowship includes:
•    4 months of weekly social enterprise training to develop a business model strategy and pitch (professional presentation) for your own social enterprise
•    Professional adult mentorship
•    Free access to your own co-working space and office amenities Monday through Friday 12-8pm (use of computers, internet, media equipment, and space to work on projects, meet with clients & mentors, etc.)
•    A pitch event, where you will present your social enterprise proposal with access to at least $1000 in SEED FUNDING and volunteer support from professionals
•    8 months of follow up coaching, training and networking events

Any young people ages 16-24 interested in creating a business or project that will benefit the community should apply for the 2017 Youth Hub Fellowship (applications will be available in September 2016)
